Gabions are rectangular wire mesh baskets filled with rock at the project site to form flexible, permeable, monolithic structures such as retaining walls for commercial, industrial and road projects. They are also used for erosion control, bank stabilization, channel linings, and weirs.

gabions strength comes from a double twisted hexagonal mesh of steel wire which is reinforced by selvedges of heavier wire running along the edges and by transverse diaphragms. The double twisted wire will not unravel, even when cut.

Our gabions very easy to assemble, require no specialized labor and nearby rock can be used for fill. gabions are available with different levels of protective coating for durability. With 30% voids gabion structures offer free drainage providing a higher bank stability when used for river bank protection.

The Reno mattress is a structure made of hexagonal double twisted wire mesh. Reno mattresses are filled with stones at the project site to form flexible and permeable, monolithic structures such as river bank protection and channel linings for erosion control. The steel wire used to manufacture the mattress is heavily zinc-coated soft temper steel. The standard combinations of mesh is shown in Table. In order to reinforce the structure, all mesh panel edges are selvedged with a wire having a greater diameter. Reno mattresses are divided into uniformly partitioned cells by internal diaphragms.

Roads and railways
Gabion is used where it is necessary to stabilize the road or rail. It is used primarily for the expansion or construction of roads on the slopes. Furthermore, in the construction of railway embankments, and so on.

Gabions are baskets manufactured from 8×10 double twisted hexagonal woven steel wire mesh, as per ASTM A975-97 Gabions are filled with stones at the project site to form flexible, permeable, monolithic structures such as retaining walls, channel linings, and weirs for erosion control projects. The steel wire used in the manufacture of the gabion is heavily Galfan (zinc-5% aluminum-mischmetal [Zn-5 Al-MM] alloy) coated soft temper steel. A PVC coating is then applied to provide additional protection for use in polluted, contaminated or aggressive environments: in salt, fresh water, acid soil or wherever the risk of corrosion is present. The PVC coating has a nominal thickness of 0.02 in. (0.50 mm). The gabion is divided into cells by diaphragms positioned at approximately 3 ft (0.9m) centers. To reinforce the structure, all mesh panel edges are selvedged with a wire having a greater diameter. Gabions shall be manufactured and shipped with all components mechanically connected at the production facility.

GABIONS consist of rectangular units, fabricated from a double-twisted hexagonal mesh. Filled with stones, gabions become large, flexible and permeable elements from which a broad range of structures may be built. GABIONS are divided into cells with diaphragms (usually spaced at 1 meter or 3’ intervals), whose function is to reinforce the structure.
